ZZ Top | Grooves and Gravy | Wolf Trap | 08/18/2015

ZZ Top
Tour - Grooves and Gravy
Venue - Wolftrap, Vienna, VA | 08/18/2015
Attendance - Myself | Rob Lang

We bad, we nationwide...
Wow what a great evening! Weather, perfect mid 70's. This was my first trip to Wolf Trap and let me say, it was a beautiful venue. Merriweather-esque, but way more upscale. We had great seats. Wolf Trap is an hour from my house with NO traffic. Being as the doors open at 7 and with the DC beltway at rush hour, that trip would easily turn into a 2 hour minimum. So we used the Orange line from New Carrollton, to West Falls Church. We boarded the train at 6:05 pm and exited the train close to 7. Unfortunately for Rob, when he entered the train he had to go to the bathroom. I've never seen a restroom at any metro stop. When we arrived at West Falls Church, there weren't any there either. He made his own rest area after being uncomfortable for almost an hour. Twenty minutes later the Wolf Trap shuttle picked us up and transported us to the venue. Once at the venue, its off to the will call window. Get the feel of the venue and grab a bite to eat and some drinks. The opener, Blackberry smoke plays, we hear, but do not go to our seats. We head to our seats after the Blackberry Smoke set about 9:00 pm. Our seats were not together. Rob swaps his seat for a seat next to mine. We are located to the left of the soundboard. The show starts about 9:25. They play all the classics and the crowd is excited. Show ends about 10:45, we head to and board our bus. Bus exits at 11, and we are off to the West Falls Church Metro station. We board the New Carrollton train at 11:30. We arrive home at close to 1 am. We are both hungry, but at 1 o'clock one a Wednesday morning there will be no place on our trip home to eat. We stop at Donut Shack and get a dozen to tide us over. We arrive home. A great time and a great evening!

Faith No More | Sol Invictus | Merriweather | 08/02/2015

Faith No More
Tour - Sol Invictus
Venue - Merriweather Post Pavilion, Columbia, MD | 08/02/2015
Attendance - Myself | Rob Lang

What is It!?

Arrived at Merriweather, on a beautiful evening, warm but comfprtable. Sat in the car and caught up Enter the pavilion, familiarized ourselves with the surroundings . Rob grabbed a beer. We located our seats. Opening band was "Refused" Listen to most of their set. Went on beer run at last song. people watch till FNM set. Head back to our seats and the stag is almost setup for the band. A white set with flowers adorning amps and equipment. 9:30 they hit the stage. All members dresses in white or white suits. Tonight we are going to try something different, Lisa has let me borrow here iPhone 6+ for this evenings pictures. I am done with this Galaxy S3 when it comes to documenting my concert experience via photo. We will see later today if the pictures turn out. Well the pictures turned out way bettr than my crappy S3.
They open with something from "The Real Thing" the title track itself.
A few older songs, then the highlight of the evening, "Epic" This song alone made the concert worth attending. The crowd pumped! In my opinion, if its all they played it would have been a great night! All in all a great night and fun time!

Sebastian Bach | 18 and Live | RamsHead Live | 07/07/2015

Sebastian Bach
Tour - 18 and Live
Venue - Rams Head Live, Baltimore, MD | 07/07/2015
Attendance - Myself

Arrived at approx 9pm, very light crowd. It's a Tuesday night
Bach comes on around 9:30, plays to about 11
Opens with one of my favorites Slave to the Grind
Set varies, lots of Skid Row as expected Mixed with 4 songs from Give 'Em Hell.
Near the end of the night he plays "In a Darkened Room" with a RUSH medley of "Tom Sawyer" in the middle, Wow! What a treat, awesome. Bach worked the small crowd, psyching them and prepping them for what was to come next. I thought he did a great job and sounded good. No idiots in the crowd. everyone got along fine.
Now the sound, all in all for the Ramshead it was OK, the guitar and bass players mics were not loud enough. You can't sing a song as a lead singer and have your chorus come from your players, if we CANNOT hear them! I felt like kicking the sound guy in the ass.
Missed attending with my good friend Rob Lang, he couldn't make it, and he did miss out on a great event. It was awesome to see the original voice of Skid Row belt out the tunes.
You can't be king of the world, if you're slave to the grind!
